This interview was recorded after Albert's Setember 08 talk in Totnes, UK - "Anything is possible: Inspiring Stories from a Founder of the ecovillage movement".
Albert Bates is an inspiring speaker. A fantastic mix of someone with a very human approach, a warm and hilarious story-teller, combined with a practical and insightful understanding of where we are at this point in history, where we might need to be going, peppered with some of the lessons he has learned along the way.

Great stuff - spread the word! I first heard about Transition Towns from an article in the Guardian ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/sep/10/ethicalliving.transitiontowns )
Then last evening (15th Sept) the TT Network came to London at the Conway Hall (organised by Wise Women http://www.wisewomen.me.uk ). It was very inspiring - hopefully they can be as successful in London as they are around the country.

An interesting point about job prospects in 20 years time. In a similar vein I was talking to friend and he was telling me about his fantastic pension plan - company pension scheme - and my reaction was how can you be sure you'll see the money in 15 or 20 years time? Money is an illusion - I keep saying this to people. Our coins no longer contain precious metal, our notes are merely IOUs and the figures you hear quoted by politicians, businessmen and banks is nearly all virtual. You really can't rely on today for tomorrow.
