Roberto Perez, Cuban Permaculturist and star of the film ‘The Power of Community’ gave a talk to Transition Town Totnes on Thursday 18th September.
Here's what he said by way of an inspirational 'thank you' to not only the Totnes folks, but to all who stayed in touch and reached out to his people during Cuba's 'Special Period'.
A full recording of the talk will be posted on traydio.

"Don't feel discouraged. Don't think that things have to happen very quickly. Just be persistent, try not to force the culture, because something beautiful is happening. People are waking up, and they need a little bit of orientation, and they need to see each other, they need a hand on their shoulder saying 'you can do it, we can do it'. This is a very very important thing. We (Cuba) took the lead, the flag, at some point, and I'm sure that with solidarity, creating community, many things can be done and we can achieve a better life, liveable cities, energy descent, and, why not, an optimistic future, even when hard moments are coming." - Roberto (from this audio)
